Photoshop > Preferences > General > automatically start bridge.

Actually I shut it off. Takes two weeks to load PS with it on. Bridge may be
ok if you have the full suite, but if you only have PS it's an incredible
waste of disk space.

Disagree... I totally replaced my old image viewing software with it and
I use it exclusively now. I'm about 80% PhotoShop, 20% other editing
programs, and I think it is invaluable. If you have an old or slow
machine though and not so much RAM, it is a real fatty in memory!

I agree. Bridge is an invaluable tool. No problems with speed issues
here. But I do have other problems with it's interface.
