I almost wanted to chose CCNow as the payment system, until I ran
through their Client's agreement, which contains some parts I don't
like.

Things like "you will prominently display on your site a statement that
CCNow is the Authorized Online Retailer from whom Customers may purchase
my Merchandise" and so on. CCNow's understanding is that they are the
retailer, they own the customer and you are just a supplier etc. A bit
too much self-promotion for my tastes. Who do they think they are ?

CCNow even reserves the right to charge higher prices to the customers,
i.e. you sell something at 50, they could charge the customer 100 and
keep the difference.

I need a payment system through which to accept credit card payments,
the customers are my customers not the customers of the payment system
and which doesn't change the prices (except for a small fixed fee) -
period.

On the other hand the sales volume will initially be low, so the monthly
fixed fees should be low or, better, zero. The payment system should
finance itself through a percentage of the sales. Any suggestions ?

I have used CCNOW. I found them to be very good, and much the same as
anyone else as far as terms and conditions go.

Have you seen the new Paypal Website Payments Pro service? I was
thinking of your site when I looked at it. It looks like a "normal"
credit card interface, and the user stays in your site.

It is not short on self-promotion though. One of the conditions is that
you must offer a link to Paypal. Which is probably a good idea anyway.

I wonder if you can accept payments from any country in the world and if
customers have to sign up and get a Paypal account before being able to
pay.

I've never heard about this Paypal rule.

BTW, what do you think about 2CO ?

Yep. Paypal are on the ball these days. You can accept all the major
currencies, and get paid in your own. Also, customers do not need a
Paypal account. They dropped this quite a while ago. That's the idea
of the Pro service, other than a little link to Paypal, it looks just
like any other payment interface.

Check out paypal.com , there's lots of info there. One thing I would
say. I tried to sign up for it a week or two back. Because I am not in
the USA it wouldn't let me sign up for it. Not sure why this was. I
emailed them about it, but didn't get a reply. Perhaps it's just a
teething issue, haven't checked it for a while.

I was referring to a specific condition of the new Website Payments Pro
service.

I have never used them, but anecdotely, mostly from what I have read in
here, I am not hugely impressed by them.
