From recent experience, you'll be lucky to get a reply on a weekday.

It certainly seems to be today! Site down, ticket submitted nearly 12 hours
ago, no response and with 4th July tomorrow, it's not looking good for
tomorrow either... there goes two days of revenue!!

This is what they sent out on Thursday:
"On Friday July 1st, Canadians celebrate the Canada day weekend. In order to
allow our staff the opportunity to enjoy a much deserved break, we will be
running a short staff on Friday, and keeping essential services on call. As
a result, Live! support, and Phone support will NOT be available during the
normal hours, and we will return in full force on Monday July 4th. "

I don't know the size of your site, but why don't you get some really
cheap hosting as backup? That way you'll never have to lose anything
for more than a couple of hours, depending on TTL you set on the DNS.

Or alternatively switch to a different host entirely.

4th July is not a Canadian holiday. Their holiday was 1st July.
This does not mean you will receive any answer before their Civic
Holiday...

You are aware that July 4 is strictly an American holiday. With the host
being Canadian, I hardly think July 4th would factor into this issue. ;-)

That's what I did. And am also setting up a server here that can run in case
of problems, and also be used as a development server.
I'm so glad that all I have to do now is migrate a few sites from them.

Well, Friday, July 1st was Canada's Independence Day, wasn't it?
Maybe they're taking the weekend off.

I dont see how a web host can take "time off". Even if its just letting 98%
of the staff off. No this is not a dig at AH but all hosting companies.

I see by some of my domains that spammers know, and count on there
being, no one home, anywhere.

Hold on-- you have a revenue generating web site and you're still with
AffordableHoser?
Open an account with another cpanel provider today, generate cpanel
backups (if you can), switch yer dns to point at the new provider, and
I'd be willing to be you'd be back up faster than you'll get a ticket
back from that steaming pile of webhost.
Best Regards,

I had a problem with getting email and viewing my website on Dactyl
yesterday and today.
I went to the www.affordablehost.com members area and they have online live
support again!!!
Yay!! They fixed the problem right away so I am still happy with them.
Try the live support.

I was suprised to get quick response to a support ticket I entered on
July 4th too. My problem turned out to have been related to my domain
being moved to a different server.
Out of curiosity, I looked up the info on the new server
(chretien.affordablehost.com), and its IP address is allocated to
Liquid Web in Lansing, Michigan. Anyone know the relationship between
Liquid Web and dotCanada?

Sorry, this isn't an answer to your question, but as a Canadian, I find
it hilarious that they have named a server "chretien". Jean Chretien was
our previous Prime Minister, and ... well, enough! :-D

I first read it as "cretin", or a French version thereof. A somewhat
derogatory term over here.
Cheers

My guess would be they purchased dedicated servers from LiquidWeb.
