I have to run out to Palm Springs (a couple hour's worth of driving from
here in Los Angeles) in a couple weeks, for a friend's birthday party
about which I screwed up and agreed to attend. Today, Palm Springs is
supposed to hit 112 deg F (44.5 C) today, and we're only two weeks into
summer. Ow. I love the desert...in 3/4 of the seasons. :)

I saw some footage of Eric Burdon shot fairly recently. *That* was sad.
On the same show, Steppenwolf lead man John Kay looked truly *great*.
Trim, only greyish, not full grey, energetic...and hasn't lost his
voice. Made me feel better about my g-g-generation, after being
depressed by the ones that aren't aging well.
Trivia I Learned On Reading The Steppenwolf Website After The Show:
He's legally blind (less than 20-200), and *totally* color blind; and
his mother and he escaped the severe nastiness in East Prussia (where he
was born) as the Russians were taking it from the Germans near the end
of WWII. He and his wife own a 1400-acre elephant preserve in
Tennessee US.

Nope, had two cylinders, total of 650cc. I had a BSA single cylinder 500cc
once that made the Triumph feel like a smooth running thing. The BSA
vibrated so much after rideing 25 miles you just about couldn't let loose
cus your hands would be numb. You could go twice that far on the Triumph. I
also had a 1948 Harley-Davidson that ran very smooth and never needed
repaired.

"Don't Step on the Grass, Sam" "Rock Me" "Jupiter's Child" "Move Over" I

A scientific expedition disembarks from its plane at the final outpost
of civilization in the deepest Amazon rain forest. They immediately
notice the ceaseless thrumming of native drums. As they venture further
into the bush, the drums never stop, day or night, for weeks.
The lead scientist asks one of the natives about this, and the native's
only reply is "Drums good. Drums never stop. Very BAD if drums stop."
The drumming continues, night and day, until one night, six weeks into
the trip, when the jungle is suddenly silent. Immediately the natives
run screaming from their huts, covering their ears. The scientists grab
one boy and demand "What is it? The drums have stopped!"
The terror-stricken youth replies "Yes! Drums stop! VERY BAD!"
The scientists ask "Why? Why? What will happen?"
Wild-eyed, the boy responds...
